TUNESS successfully organized a Networking and Fundraising Ramadan Dinner on June 2016 NYC. Guests attended "iftar" in a convivial and joyful atmosphere.The Ramadan Basket fundraising effort collected $2550 (~5348TD). Our local partner in Tunisia IRADA pour le développement Ksar Gafsa, professionally managed the purchasing of goods & distribution of food to families in need. In total 54 families that met conditions described next benefited from this event. Special thanks to contributors, TUNESS team, IRADA, and all involved parties!
Ramadan Fundraising Basket
Many people in this world lived in less fortunate socio-economic environment, Tunisia is not different. According to the Worldbank, 23% of Tunisians live below poverty line. Fully aware of the prior fact, TUNESS member teamed up with the non-profit local association IRADA pour le développement Ksar Gafsa, and organized a successful fundraising event themed Ramadan Basket. TUNESS team reached out to their subscriber and their networking challenges and was able to raise $2550. A warm thank to all for reaching to pockets and their priceless contribution. The funding were successfully transferred to IRADA a local association that professionally and timely carried the logistics of purchasing the goods and distributing them on needy family that met the requirement set out by TUNESS and IRADA. . We collected 2550USD (approximately 5348TD) that will be distributed following these criteria:
- The family income does not exceed 400TD
- The family does not have children that could work
- The father cannot work for health reasons or retired
The Ramadan Basket will be designed to feed each family for approximately 15 days and the donation allocation will be as follow:
- Families with less than 5 members will receive approximately 60TD Basket
- Families with more than 5 members will receive approximately 90TD Basket
