Official Statement
Following the incident of the removal and replacement of the national flag on top of the front building of Mannouba University of Humanities, TUNESS:
- Strongly condemns this act which constitutes an attack on the national symbol under which so many martyrs sacrificed their lives in the struggles against occupation and against dictatorship.
- Considers this act dangerous aggression and offense against all citizens who embrace the civil character of the Tunisian country
- Sees this incident as a beginning of a concretization of an extremist school of thought that hides behind a radical interpretation of the religion and aims at the wreckage of the civil society
- Salute the brave student Miss Khaoula Rchidi who was the first to oppose this act and stood against the person removing the flag which did cost her physical aggression.
- Reminds that such acts fall under the law, and therefore call the authorities to apply the law as soon as possible and bring the person who committed this act to justice.
